Recently, Mr. Francis Atwell, who is Congressman Henry Cuellar’s Outreach Coordinator, donated 60 books on the congressman’s behalf to Salinas Elementary School students. The books were distributed to students in grades 1-5 by way of random drawing. The books varied in subject matter, and included novels, children’s stories and books about sports. School librarian Maria Garza said that the students were very pleased to receive their free books. “We appreciate Congressman Cuellar’s donation of books to our students. This is a great way for them to start building a personal library. Having their own books at home will encourage them to read during their free time, and that will complement the time they spend learning in class” she said.
