Laredo, Texas, [May 10, 2017] –Christina Sanchez, a 4th grade student at Salinas Elementary School has been announced as one of Studentreasures Publishing National Book Challenge winners for the 2016-2017 school year.
Christina was recognized for her contributions on her book, “Super Cat Vs. the Fry Thief,” that was published earlier this year through one of Studentreasures’ publishing programs.
Christina came up with the idea for “Super Cat Vs. the Fry Thief” when brainstorming another crime for Super Cat to solve. Christina put in her best effort, writing and illustrating, Super Cat’s adventure, along with his sidekick James Jones, to bring justice to the Count Backwards, before she sent it off to be published.
“I would like to congratulate Christina Sanchez on this tremendous honor,” said United ISD Superintendent Roberto J. Santos. “Her love of reading and creative thinking is clearly evident. She makes us United ISD proud. Keep up the great work!”
As a winner of the National Book Challenge, Christina’s book was selected from entries across the country and was awarded based on the originality, creative storyline and illustrations of her book. This nationwide contest was open to more than 800,000 books that were submitted to Studentreasures for publishing this school year.
“At Studentreasures, we are fortunate to witness creativity and talent in classrooms around the country. We especially congratulate Christina for earning this achievement and completing a project with lasting memories and a one-of-a-kind keepsake,” said Chad Zimmerman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Studentreasures.
Salinas Elementary School is located at 1000 Century Drive West. The school mascot is the eagle and their school colors are royal blue and silver. The proud school principal is Abraham Rodriguez, III.
